Know more about ANA

In 2018, a group of Nigerians, who often gathered as friends in their homes, made the decision to form what is now known as the Association of Nigerians in Alabama (ANA).

This group, initially composed of pioneering members like Stanley Amechi, Olajide Adenuga, Kelvin Esezobor, Collins Anthony, Emmanuel Obiobanya, Bunmi Odeleye, and Wale Olatunbosun, started as a WhatsApp group called “Beloved Brothers.” The original purpose of the group was to gather on weekends for holidays, birthdays, baby christenings, and similar events. However, the members soon decided to transform their informal gatherings into a more purposeful association with a desire to give back to the community.

The name “Beloved Brothers” eventually evolved into the “Association of Nigerians in Alabama” (ANA), a nonprofit organization. The group then established its constitution, as well as its vision and mission statements.

Vision:
To project an image of love and support for all the people in Alabama through charity and other forms of community service.

Mission Statements:
1. To share our heritage and culture with other people.
2. To establish, encourage and sustain a positive relationship with the government of the state of Alabama and America at large.
3. To promote an upstanding and honorable way of life of members living in Alabama.
4. To peacefully cohabit with every person in Alabama irrespective of race, religion, sex, or age.
5. To promote cordial relationship with other associations of similar vision.
6. To embark on charity projects and community services for the less privileged.
7. To develop and inspire in every member, the principle of self-determination to succeed and self-sufficiency as the gain of hard work.

In May 2019, the group was officially registered as a nonprofit under the name Association of Nigerians in Alabama (ANA). At its first official meeting following registration, the first set of executives was elected:
Olajide Adenuga – President
Bunmi Odeleye – General Secretary
Stanley Amechi – Treasurer
Kelvin Esezobor- Public Relations Officer

Since its formation, the association has actively participated in several community services, including volunteering at food distribution centers and donating gifts to the less privileged in the community.
